​COURSE HIGHLIGHTS:

Through hands-on practice and expert guidance, this Master Course provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of sculptural draping with jersey, empowering them to create innovative and dynamic designs with this versatile material. It provides a strong technical foundation and refines participants’ aesthetic sensibility for working with jersey in a three-dimensional context, pushing the boundaries of creativity and craftsmanship with this versatile material.  Translate draped designs into reproducible patterns and learn specialized construction and finishing techniques.

COURSE CONTENT:
 

  • Understanding Jersey: Explore the characteristics and behavior of jersey fabric, learning how its stretch and drape influence design possibilities.

  • Foundation & Advance Draping Techniques: Master essential draping techniques specific to working with jersey, including gathering, stretching, and folding.

  • Sculptural Form Creation: Develop skills in manipulating jersey to create three-dimensional shapes and volumes directly on the dress form.

  • Texture and Surface Design: Experiment with techniques to create texture and surface interest in both jersey & woven fabrics. 

  • Pattern Development from Drape: Learn how to translate draped designs into flat patterns for reproduction.

  •  Construction and Finishing: Understand the unique challenges of constructing and finishing garments made from jersey, ensuring precision and quality.

  •  Design Exploration:  Push creative boundaries by exploring experimental silhouettes and concepts with hands-on practice.
